aespa's Karina Donates 100 Million Won to Support Firefighters and Wildfire Victims
aespa's Karina (real name Yu Jimin) has generously donated a total of 100 million won (approximately $75,000) to support firefighters and aid victims of recent wildfires in South Korea. The donation was made through the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association, with 50 million won allocated to each cause.
Expressing her concerns, Karina shared, "There's never been a time when I've missed our ordinary daily lives as much as now. I sincerely hope the prolonged wildfires can be quickly contained, and all affected individuals can return to their normal lives." She also extended her condolences to those who lost their lives in the disasters and thanked the firefighters for their tireless efforts.
Through the fan communication app 'Bubble,' Karina further revealed her worries by sharing a photo taken in Madrid, mentioning her increased longing for rain to help alleviate the wildfire situation. She expressed her wish for her small gesture to bring comfort and strength to those affected, highlighting the power of collective support from her fans, known as MY.
The donation will be used for emergency livelihood support, temporary housing, relief supplies for residents in wildfire-affected areas like Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam, as well as for programs aimed at improving firefighters' mental health and welfare.
The recent wildfires have been devastating, with 26 fatalities, 30 injuries, and over 36,900 hectares of forest destroyed, surpassing the damage of the 2000 East Coast wildfires, previously the worst on record.
