Red Velvet's Wendy Donates 50 Million Won to Support Wildfire Victims
Red Velvet's Wendy has generously donated 50 million won (approximately $38,000) to assist victims of the recent wildfires in the Yeongnam region of South Korea. The donation was made through the Community Chest of Korea, a social welfare fund, aimed at supporting the displaced and aiding in recovery efforts.
Expressing her heartfelt sympathy, Wendy shared, "My deepest condolences go out to those who have lost their homes due to the sudden wildfires. I sincerely hope the fires are extinguished quickly to prevent further damage." This act of kindness isn't Wendy's first; she previously donated 100 million won to support COVID-19 relief efforts in 2021, earning her a spot as the 2602nd member of the Honor Society, a group recognizing high-value donors to the Community Chest of Korea.
The wildfires, which began on the 21st in areas including Sancheong, South Gyeongsang, and Uiseong, North Gyeongsang, have surpassed the devastation of the 2000 East Coast wildfires, previously the worst on record. With 26 fatalities and over 36,000 people displaced, the Community Chest of Korea has initiated a special fundraising campaign to support the wildfire victims, running until the 30th of next month.
