Red Velvet's Wendy Donates 50 Million Won to Aid Wildfire Victims in South Korea
The Community Chest of Korea announced on the 27th that Red Velvet's Wendy has donated 50 million won to aid the victims of the wildfires in the Yeongnam region and support recovery efforts. Wendy expressed her deep condolences to those who lost their homes due to the sudden wildfires and wished for a swift containment to prevent further damage.
The wildfires, which started on the 21st in areas including Sancheong, South Gyeongsang, and Uiseong, North Gyeongsang, have surpassed the damage scale of the 2000 East Coast wildfires, previously recorded as the worst in history. With over 36,000 victims and 26 fatalities reported so far, the Community Chest is conducting a special fundraising campaign until April 30 to support the wildfire victims. Contributions can be made through dedicated accounts, Kakao's 'Together for Good', and Naver's Happy Bean, with donation inquiries handled by the Community Chest's Nanum Call Center.
Wendy has previously shown her philanthropic spirit by donating 100 million won for COVID-19 relief efforts, earning her a spot as the 2,602nd member of the Honor Society, the Community Chest's high-value donors club.
