NewJeans Opens Up About Legal Battle Shock and Future Uncertainties
NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein have expressed their deep shock over a recent court injunction decision during an interview with BBC Korea. Danielle revealed, "We truly expected a different outcome. It was a moment of collective shock for all of us." She emphasized that their fight wasn't for sympathy but to pursue their passion for music genuinely.
Addressing rumors of external influences, Hanni stated, "People underestimate our ability to handle this situation just because we're young. They assume we couldn't have made decisions on our own, which isn't true. We've always agreed that if even one member isn't on board, we wouldn't proceed." Hanni also shared concerns about potentially being unable to continue their activities, a scenario they desperately wish to avoid.
Hyein reflected on the public's perception, saying, "Some might think we're in a position to do as we please because of our fame, but that's far from reality. We've mustered immense courage to speak out against injustices, yet the situation isn't favoring us." Minji added, "We're aware of the scrutiny our words and actions will face, and the responsibility that comes with it."
The court's decision mandates NewJeans to return under ADOR's management, restricting any independent or third-party agency activities. Despite claiming their contract with ADOR was terminated last November, the injunction has halted their plans for independent endeavors, affecting not just music production but all commercial activities as public figures. The members have filed an appeal against the court's ruling, signaling their resolve to fight for their careers.
