NewJeans Members Shocked by Court's Injunction Decision, Pause Activities
NewJeans members have openly shared their shock and disappointment following a court's injunction decision that impacts their ongoing dispute with their agency, ADOR. In a recent interview with BBC Korea, the five-member group revealed they had anticipated a different outcome. Hyein pointed out the misconception that their fame grants them unlimited freedom, stating, "We've held back for so long before finally speaking up about the injustices we've faced."
The members emphasized their current disadvantage in the legal battle, with Danielle expressing their simple desire to continue their work without interference, lies, or misunderstandings. Hanni shared their fears about the uncertainty of their future, admitting they never expected to face such challenges when they were trainees just two years ago.
The Seoul Central District Court's decision requires NewJeans to continue activities under ADOR until the main lawsuit is resolved, a ruling the members respect but disagree with, citing it fails to consider the broken trust between them and ADOR. They plan to proceed with an appeal, with the hearing set for April 9. Meanwhile, the first hearing for ADOR's lawsuit to confirm the validity of their exclusive contract is scheduled for April 3, potentially prolonging the legal battle for over two years.
Following their performance at ComplexCon in Hong Kong, NewJeans announced a temporary halt to all activities, marking the event as their last stage for the foreseeable future as they await the court's final judgment.
