NewJeans May Continue as Ambassadors for Incheon Airport Customs
Incheon Airport Customs is currently in discussions about whether to extend NewJeans' term as promotional ambassadors, firmly denying any rumors of replacement as "baseless."
On the 27th, during a phone conversation with 'Dispatch,' the customs authority stated, "NewJeans' ambassador contract is set to expire at the end of this month. There are absolutely no decisions made regarding the next ambassador."
NewJeans were appointed as ambassadors in March last year, with their one-year contract due to expire on the 31st. According to the customs office, NewJeans participated in this role as a talent donation. Earlier reports suggested that IVE might replace NewJeans and that airport banners would be removed, but the customs office has clarified that these reports are untrue.
"We have not internally discussed replacing the ambassadors," the office said, adding that the NewJeans banners at Incheon Airport have not been taken down yet.
The possibility of renewing the contract is still under review. A customs official mentioned, "We plan to contact NewJeans before the contract ends and will consider renewal after mutual discussion."
Expressing dismay over the misleading reports, the official added, "We are in an awkward position with NewJeans and their agency. If false reporting continues, we may take action with the Press Arbitration Commission."
