NewJeans Loses Customs Ambassador Role Amid Agency Dispute
NewJeans has reportedly ended their tenure as promotional ambassadors for the Incheon Airport Customs, a role they were initially proud to take on. This development comes as the group faces ongoing disputes with their agency, ADOR, leading to a halt in their activities. The customs office decided not to renew the one-year contract, which was initially secured with much effort due to NewJeans' soaring popularity at the time.
The situation took a turn when the legal battle between ADOR and NewJeans erupted, diminishing the expected promotional impact. Following the contract's termination, banners featuring NewJeans at the airport's arrival hall were also removed. Despite a recent court ruling in favor of ADOR regarding the agency's rights and advertising contracts, NewJeans has expressed their intention to challenge the decision and continue their independent activities, as evidenced by their planned participation in 'ComplexCon Hong Kong 2025'.
In a revealing interview with the BBC, NewJeans members shared their shock and disappointment over the legal outcomes, stating they had hoped for a different resolution. This ongoing saga highlights the challenges faced by the group as they navigate their professional and contractual disputes.
