NewJeans Challenges Court's Ban on Solo Activities, Hearing Set for April 9

NewJeans is set to challenge the court's decision prohibiting their solo activities, with a hearing scheduled for April 9. According to legal sources on the 26th, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Agreement Division 50 will conduct a hearing on the injunction objection filed by all five members of NewJeans.

Previously, the court ruled in favor of the agency's request to prevent the members from engaging in individual activities and signing advertising contracts, stating that the evidence provided by Minji and others was insufficient to prove the agency's breach of contract. The members expressed respect for the court's decision but argued it failed to fully consider the breakdown of trust between them and the agency, vowing to continue their legal challenge.

Following the court's decision, the members conducted an exclusive interview with TIME magazine, where their comments about being disappointed with the court's ruling and calling for change and growth in Korea sparked controversy.

Separately, on April 3, the first hearing for the lawsuit filed by the agency to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract will take place. Legal experts suggest that the lawsuit could take over two years to resolve if it goes through all three court levels, given the intense dispute and numerous issues involved.

With the injunction's effect lasting until the lawsuit's conclusion, it remains uncertain when NewJeans can resume their activities. The group recently announced that their performance at the ComplexCon in Hong Kong would be their last for the foreseeable future, as they respect the court's decision to halt all activities temporarily.
