KickFlip Aims to Be the Next Big Thing in K-Pop, Inspired by Stray Kids
KickFlip, a fresh face in the K-pop scene, has officially debuted with their first album titled "Kick it, Flip it!" The group, consisting of seven members including leader Kyehoon, has been eagerly awaited by fans and industry watchers alike. Kyehoon, who has been with JYP Entertainment since 2016, expressed the group's dedication and hard work leading up to their debut. "We'll show you how much we’ve got. KickFlip will try really hard. Please look forward to what we’ll show everyone," he said during their debut showcase in Seoul.
KickFlip is JYP Entertainment's first new boy band in two years, following NEXZ, and seven years after Stray Kids. The group's name, inspired by a skateboarding technique, symbolizes their aim to showcase a rebellious and energetic vibe. With preorders for their debut EP exceeding 300,000 copies, KickFlip is already making waves. The EP features six tracks, including "Mama Said," which members Amaru, Donghwa, and Kyehoon contributed to lyrically, showcasing their involvement in the creative process.
Drawing inspiration from Stray Kids, KickFlip aspires to leave their mark on the K-pop industry. "Our role model is Stray Kids," Donghwa shared, highlighting their ambition to engage more deeply in the creative process and share their art with the world. To celebrate their debut, JYP Entertainment is hosting a pop-up store for KickFlip at The Hyundai Seoul department store, alongside appearances on television music shows and fan meet-and-greet events. "We hope to write our own history on various programs and show people just how much we have within us," Amaru expressed, signaling the group's determination to carve out their own legacy in the K-pop world.
