K-Pop Stars and Celebrities Rally to Support Wildfire Victims with Massive Donations
As wildfires continue to ravage the Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam regions for the sixth consecutive day, the hearts of the nation are heavy with concern. The entertainment industry is stepping up in this national disaster, with numerous celebrities making significant donations to support the victims and recovery efforts.
NCT's Mark has donated 100 million won to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association for the wildfire recovery efforts in the affected areas. Expressing his hopes for a swift resolution to the ongoing crisis, Mark shared his wish for the quick return to normalcy for those displaced and the brave individuals fighting the fires.
Actress Kim Ji-won also contributed 50 million won, emphasizing her desire to aid in the recovery process and her heartfelt wishes for the affected communities.
The list of celebrities opening their hearts and wallets includes LE SSERAFIM, TWICE's Jihyo, BTS's J-Hope and Suga, Red Velvet's Seulgi, and many others, with donations ranging from tens of millions to hundreds of millions of won. Notably, SEVENTEEN made a staggering 1 billion won donation, setting a high mark in celebrity contributions for this cause.
Entertainment companies are also joining the relief efforts, with JYP Entertainment donating 500 million won to World Vision to support the victims, including children and families affected by the wildfires. This donation is aimed at providing emergency relief, psychological support, and recovery assistance to over 10,000 individuals in the hardest-hit areas.
The wildfires, which began on the 21st, have surpassed the damage of the 2000 East Coast wildfires, becoming the worst in history, with 26 fatalities and over 36,000 displaced individuals.
