K-Pop Stars and Celebrities Rally Support for Wildfire Victims in South Korea
As massive wildfires continue to rage across South Korea for the seventh day, starting from Sancheong in Gyeongnam to regions like Gyeongbuk and Ulsan, the entertainment industry is stepping up with heartfelt donations. With the wildfire damage escalating uncontrollably, celebrities are contributing to support affected residents, firefighters, and relief workers through various organizations such as the Korean Red Cross, Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association, and World Vision.
On the 27th alone, significant donations were made, including NCT's Mark with 100 million won, LE SSERAFIM with 50 million won, and TWICE's Jihyo with 50 million won, among others. Park Seo-jin donated his 100 million won prize from 'Current King of Singers 2' to the wildfire relief efforts. Other notable contributions came from SEVENTEEN with 1 billion won, IU with 200 million won, and JYP Entertainment with 500 million won, showcasing the industry's solidarity.
Meanwhile, the wildfires, fueled by strong winds and dry conditions, have caused extensive damage, displacing 37,185 people and resulting in 56 casualties, with 325 facilities damaged, according to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.
