IVE's Wonyoung Wins Second Round in Legal Battle Against YouTuber

IVE's Wonyoung has emerged victorious in the second trial of a defamation lawsuit against the operator of a YouTube channel known as 'Talduk Sooyongso'. The Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of Wonyoung, ordering the defendant to pay 50 million won in damages. This decision comes after the court had initially ordered a payment of 100 million won in the first trial, which was subsequently halved in the appeal.

Last year, Wonyoung and her agency, Starship Entertainment, declared war on malicious commenters and cyber bullies, initiating both civil and criminal lawsuits against the operator of 'Talduk Sooyongso'. The criminal complaint has been forwarded from the police to the prosecution, and Wonyoung's civil lawsuit for damages had already seen a favorable ruling in the first trial.

Despite the operator's appeal against the first trial's decision and a request for a stay of execution, the court proceeded with the appeal trial. Although the case was referred to mediation, both parties failed to reach an agreement, leading to the court's latest decision.
