IVE's Wonyoung Wins Partial Victory in Defamation Lawsuit Appeal

IVE member Wonyoung has achieved a partial victory in her appeal for a defamation lawsuit against the YouTube channel 'Talduk Sooyongso'. The Seoul Central District Court ruled that the channel's operator must pay Wonyoung 50 million KRW in damages, halving the original 100 million KRW awarded in the first trial. Wonyoung accused the operator of spreading false information and insulting her, actions that she claims were aimed at increasing views and profits by targeting her, a member of the popular girl group IVE. This lawsuit is separate from another defamation case filed by Wonyoung's agency, Starship Entertainment, against the same operator, which is still ongoing in its first trial. Wonyoung had also filed a criminal complaint against the operator for defamation and insult, leading to a suspended sentence in the first trial, with an appeal currently in progress.
