(G)I-DLE's Yuqi Drops New Digital Single 'Radio (Dum-Dum)' – A Nostalgic Y2K-Inspired Track

(G)I-DLE's Yuqi is set to release her new digital single, 'Radio (Dum-Dum)', on various music platforms at 6 PM today. This track, a self-composed piece by Yuqi, uses the metaphor of a radio to express emotions towards a past lover, blending a medium-tempo boom-bap genre with rhythmic acoustic guitar and bass lines. Yuqi's mid-low vocal tones and trendy melodies create a stylish hip-hop R&B sound.

'Radio (Dum-Dum)' first garnered attention during (G)I-DLE's world tour <2024 (G)I-DLE WORLD TOUR [iDOL] IN SEOUL> last year and has been highly anticipated by fans, especially after being used in advertisements prior to its official release. Yuqi shared that the song was inspired by Y2K aesthetics, with the melody of the chorus 'Dum-Dum' coming to her while envisioning a scene of listening to the radio. She also mentioned that had she created this song earlier, it might have competed with 'FREAK' for the title track of her first solo mini album 'YUQ1'.

A special clip released ahead of the song's debut was directed by JIMMY, who also directed the music video for 'Could It Be' from 'YUQ1'. Yuqi expressed her gratitude towards the director for creating a high-quality video within a short timeframe. She also conveyed her apologies to fans for the long wait and hopes they will enjoy the official release of the song.
